The development of β-caprolactam antibiotics in China has formed a complete production system after nearly 50 years.
Almost all of the beta-type antibiotics in the 2012 (except for the patent period) our country can produce, and the cost is very low, penicillin production in the world before, a large number of exports to the international market; cephalosporin antibiotics are basically self-sufficient and can be exported for a fraction of the time.
In the 2012, the intermediates of the beta-caprolactam antibiotic were fully capable of production, except for the 7-aca and 7-ADCA of the semi synthetic antibiotic, all side-chain intermediates were produced and exported in large quantities. For example, the main auxiliary intermediate of β-caprolactam antibiotics, the present production of phenylacetic acid in our country is nearly 30, with a total annual capacity of about 20,000 tons. But most enterprises are small, the largest annual output of 2000 tons, the other most annual output of hundreds of tons.
2003 domestic total demand for phenylacetic acid is about 14,000 tons, consumption structure: penicillin G accounted for 85%, other medicines accounted for 4%, spices accounted for 7%, pesticides and other fields accounted for 4%. With the development of domestic spices, pharmaceuticals, pesticides and other industries, the demand for phenylacetic acid will increase further. It is expected that by 2005, China's pharmaceutical industry will consume about 14,000 tons of benzene acetic acid, pesticide industry will consume 500 tons, spices industry about 2000 tons consumption. In addition to other areas of consumption, the total domestic demand for phenylacetic acid is expected to reach 18,000 tonnes in 2005.
